The mission was organized on November 25th, 1961. In 1971 the present property located at 419 Cherry St, South Haven, MI was purchased and a 40x90 structure was drawn and construction began. The first services were held in February 1973. In 1987 Calvary stepped out on faith and under the guidance of Landmark Missionary Baptist Institute, Michigan Missionary Baptist Seminary was founded and is still in operation today. In April of 2000 the church purchased five acres of land on M-43 for a future building site. In 2009 another expansion to the present church took place with a 36x48 addition which provided the church with much more needed room.
